PRESS RELEASE: Tayba to be featured on CBS’s State of Spirituality with Lisa Ling
Spotlight on Faith, Redemption, and Second Chances for Incarcerated Muslims
Union City, 16th Feb, 2025 – Tayba Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated Muslims through education and personal transformation, is honored to be featured on CBS Morning’s State of Spirituality with Lisa Ling. The segment will air on 28th February, 2025, shedding light on the power of faith and spirituality in the rehabilitation and reintegration process.
Hosted by acclaimed journalist Lisa Ling, State of Spirituality explores how spirituality shapes people’s lives in profound ways. In this upcoming episode, Tayba Foundation’s work in providing faith-based education, lifeskills, and mentorship to incarcerated individuals will take center stage, offering viewers a look at stories of hope, resilience, and redemption.
During filming, Lisa Ling spoke with Rami Nsour, who founded Tayba Foundation over 15 years ago after recognizing the lack of services available for Muslims behind bars. She also interviewed Muhammad Amin, a former Tayba student who, after transforming his life through the program, has now joined the Tayba staff to bring his firsthand experience and unique perspective to the organization’s work.
“Tayba Foundation believes that every person has the potential for transformation, no matter their past,” says Founding Director, Rami Nsour. “This feature on State of Spirituality is an incredible opportunity to showcase the impact of faith in the lives of those seeking a second chance. We hope viewers find it informative and inspiring. I'm certainly inspired everyday by our thousands of students in prisons.”
Since its founding, Tayba has served over 15000 incarcerated individuals, equipping them with the tools to rebuild their lives, reconnect with their communities, and break cycles of incarceration. By partnering with religious leaders, educators, and formerly incarcerated mentors, Tayba offers a unique approach to rehabilitation—one rooted in faith, dignity, and opportunity.
